Engagement Process

Document ID: D365-ENG-001 | Version: v1.00

Procedural overview: This page describes the operational flow for preservation engagements. It is informational only and does not provide legal advice.

Operational Flow

  1. Intake
    • Initial contact, matter context, and evidence inventory at a high level.
    • Collection constraints and deadlines documented (without legal conclusions).
  2. Written Scope
    • Scope statement drafted: what will be handled, what will not, and assumptions/constraints.
    • Deliverables and documentation expectations defined.
  3. Authorization
    • Written authorization from counsel or authorized representative.
    • Access permissions and any required credentials confirmed.
  4. Preservation
    • Preservation actions performed consistent with the approved scope.
    • Handling controls applied (e.g., minimal-touch handling, integrity steps where applicable).
  5. Documentation
    • Chain-of-custody and handling records maintained contemporaneously.
    • Acquisition/preservation summary and supporting logs produced as applicable.
  6. Delivery
    • Deliverables transferred using documented transfer points and receipt confirmation.
    • Retention/return instructions applied per written scope.

Neutral preservation services only. No legal advice. No expert testimony unless separately retained in writing.

Engagements begin only after written scope and documented authorization are confirmed. Materials are not accepted for transfer until handling and access methods are agreed in writing.
