Scope & limitations

Clear boundaries protect the integrity of evidence and reduce misunderstandings. This page explains what can be offered, what cannot, and what must be agreed in writing before work begins.

Conservative statements

Within scope

  • Media assessment and risk screening
  • Evidence-aware documentation and verification (e.g., hashing for provided images/exports)
  • Forensic data analysis and reporting aligned to case questions
  • Consultation to help counsel/teams understand technical findings

Out of scope

  • Password bypass, unlocking, or covert acquisition
  • Destructive testing or “repair” operations on original evidence without explicit written authorization
  • Consumer photo-recovery and sentimental cases not evidence-driven
  • Legal advice or representation

Engagement requirements

If needed, a short engagement letter / SOW can be used for clarity and auditability.

Scope Notes

Related technical assessments may be performed on a limited, case-specific basis where directly relevant to evidentiary analysis.

Where required by engagement scope, secure data sanitization or media destruction may be performed following evidentiary review, with documentation of method and disposition.
